For ACT Reading, I did find it helpful to scan the first and last paragraph as Lucas taught us at Redrock ACT class. It allowed me answer the “what’s the main purpose of this essay” questions fairly easily.
As for ACT English, I made sure that I could identify the grammar errors and make the proper corrections with Redrock's ACT English rules.

Using a calculator on the math section saves valuable time, so use a calculator if there are complex equations to solve.
The ACT Science section is mainly composed of graphs and charts, so for the majority of the questions, rely on the graphs and charts. Don’t waste time reading the background information above the data as what Lucas instructed us; although it may be integral to certain questions, so only read it when such a question appears.
One of the most tricky components of the test is time. Besides spending time deriving the answer, certain amounts of time must be allotted to gridding in the answers on the answer sheet. I would suggest filling it in as soon as you complete a question, so you don’t have to rush to fill in all the blanks at the last minute.
